54' Custom pilothouse powercat (2001) | $535,000 (SOLD)

    Details

Malcolm Tennant designed some of the best long-range power cats in the world.  His designs are famous for their sea-kindliness and efficiency.  Pachoud Yachts in New Zealand has specialized in the construction of large composite motor yachts for more than 25 years.  They are one of the world's most experienced builders of custom, luxury, composite catamarans.  This combination of designer and builder has resulted in one of the most luxurious, comfortable, and efficient power catamarans I've ever had the pleasure of boarding.  1500 gallons of fuel capacity (across 10 tanks), 330 gallons of water, and twin 270 horsepower Cummins diesels mated to infinitely variable and featherable Hundested propellers give Catalyst the capability to trawl across oceans with range in excess of 3,500 nautical miles.  And trawl she has.  She has voyaged from New Zealand to Hawaii to Los Angeles to Seattle and many points in between.  She can sprint when conditions demand.  Or, for ultra fuel economy, she can run on one engine with the other propeller feathered from the helm.  Economy at a one-engine slow trawl can approach 5 nautical miles to the gallon.  This long-range capability is a great comfort to the skipper over long passages.

She makes her crossings in calculated comfort for a cruising family, crew, or couple too.  Most noteworthy for comfort is her centerline master cabin with a complete walk-around queen bed.  This is a feature seldom seen on catamarans.  It is a truly spacious owners' cabin that spans the beam instead of occupying a single hull.  Throughout the master cabin is plenty of glowing wood surface area and beautiful flooring, cabinetry, and fixtures.  Her overall living environment is fantastic - with excellent lines of sight and 6' 6" plus headroom.  Easy boarding transoms lead to her beam-to-beam aft cockpit with its custom built-in barbecue.  The aft galley, bar, and dinette are very well fitted for feeding a crew and for entertaining.  Step up to her completely enclosed pilothouse for more space to entertain, sleep, work, lounge, and navigate.  Go forward and down to her centerline master with its ensuite head and separate shower.  A stairway provided access to the guest suite with its own ensuite and to the third day head.  Catalyst has a covered flybridge helm above with extensive seating, a sky-lounge and a davit for deploying the dinghy and your toys.  Fit and finish throughout is everything you would expect from the Pachoud yard and it reflects a lifetime of care and upgrades.  Catalyst is at home on the world's oceans and waiting for you to make her your own and point her towards your cruising dreams.
